(vasep.com.vn) Vinh Long province has 90.65 hectares of aquaculture area meeting international standards i.e. GlobalGAP, ASC and BMP and domestic standard (VietGAP), according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Vinh Long owns 9 GlobalGAP/ASC-certified grow-out pangasius farms on the area of 69.15 hectares, 2 GlobalGAP- certified pangasius hatcheries on the area of 6 hectares, 3 VietGAP -certified pangasius farms with 8 hectares and 1 BMP - certified pangasius farms with 3 hectares.
Besides, the province has 4 facilities producing pangasius fries and 69.6- hectare pangasius nursery area, 2-hectare special aquatic seed hatcheries, 179 other aquatic seed hatcheries, 22 aquatic seed producing and trading units, 18 aquatic seed hatcheries.
In the second half of the year, the province encourages local farmers to diversify aquatic species, transfer farming technique of high-value species and guide farms to adopt standards such as GlobalGAP, VietGAP.
