An Giang sets target to increase Pangasius output in 2024
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) With the signs of recovery in pangasius exports, the increase in farming area and output, An Giang's fisheries sector has been actively supporting farmers and businesses to boost production, processing, and consumption in the last months of the year.
The estimated total fishery production in the first six months of the year reached about 357,000 tons, up 5.42% compared to the same period. Specifically, the harvested pangasius output exceeded 324,800 tons, an increase of 6.33%.
In 2024, An Giang's fisheries sector aims for a growth rate of 6-7% compared to 2023, with a total fishery output of about 691,000 tons, including the production of over 2 billion pangasius fry and 629,000 tons of commercial fish (the harvested area of pangasius in 2024 is expected to increase to 1,410 hectares).
