On April 25th, 2011, Vinh Hoan Corp held the 2011 Annual General Meeting of shareholders.
“This year, Vinh Hoan Corp plans to build a rice processing plant which has production capacity of 1,000 MT a year, with total investment of VND90 billion. This is a potential sector contributing to complete the company’s closed production chain,” Truong Thi Le Khanh – Chairwoman and General Director of Vinh Hoan Corp said.
According to the company’s report, Vinh Hoan Corp’s exports in Q.1/2011 were US$32 million, up 9 percent compared with 2010. The parent company expected to reach VND800 billion of sales and VND72 billion of net profit. Its affiliate Vinh Hoan Feed Joint Stock Company (Vinh Hoan 1) gained VND317 billion of turnover and VND19 billion of net profit.
Beside the key pangasius exports of US$29.2 million in Q.1/2011, Vinh Hoan Corp also generated US$1.6 million from exporting value-added seafood products which accounted for 5 percent of its total seafood exports.
In 2010, processed seafood sales reached VND2,758 billion, leading to a total net profit of VND186 billion. Turnover of its feed factory was over 1,000 billion, bringing VND59 billion of net profit.
At the the 2011 Annual General Meeting of shareholders, the company released its new business plan, expecting to boost seafood exports to US$135 million, sales from processed seafood to VND3,000 billion and feed sales to VND1,200 billion.
Also this year, Vinh Hoan Corp plans to increase its pangasius farming area by 100 hectares to ensure 100 percent of raw materials for processing in the coming years and 80 percent of the total 70,000 MT of raw pangasius each year.
The company invests more VND15 billion to build new packaging plant and VND5 billion for the feed factory of Vinh Hoan 1.
In 2011, Vinh Hoan Corp strives to receive ASC and BAP certificates for its fish farming areas and Global GAP certificate for its feed mill and hatchery.
On 3 May, Vinh Hoan and Halieutis bested 35 competitors to be awarded top honors at the 11th annual Seafood Prix d’Elite new products competition at the European Seafood Exposition.
Vinh Hoan Corp. of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, won the grand prize for best new retail product with its Provocake. An appetizer or light meal, the product features a fish cake made of pangasius, shrimp and mushrooms encircled by asparagus and tied with a green onion top. The product received high marks from the judges for its quality of ingredients and originality of presentation.
