(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Dong Thap Pangasius Festival 2024, themed 'Dong Thap Pangasius: Green Journey - Green Value', will take place on November 16-17 in Hong Ngu City.
On November 5th, Mr. Huynh Tat Dat, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the pangasius festival aims to promote the image and brand of Dong Thap pangasius and create opportunities for businesses and partners to meet, exchange, and share market information.
Especially, the festival highlights the positive transformation of the pangasius industry with a commitment to developing the industry towards quality, efficiency, and environmental sustainability; creating inclusive social values, improving livelihoods and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological resource scarcity, meeting the increasingly high import criteria of domestic and international markets.
Within the framework of the festival, there will be activities such as: A cross-border trade promotion fair and a space for displaying and exhibiting typical OCOP products associated with the pangasius value chain; artistic performances, sports, etc. In addition, there will be a conference to summarize the pangasius industry in 2024 and propose implementation solutions, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the Provincial People's Committee.
Huynh Tu Linh, Vice Chairman of Hong Ngu City People's Committee, said that the new highlight of this year's festival is the participation of the entire industry chain, from businesses, farmers, government agencies, and associations. Moreover, the festival aims to expand beyond the 'pangasius capital' of Hong Ngu (Dong Thap) and spread to other pangasius-farming localities in the region.
In the first nine months of 2024, Dong Thap's pangasius and basa production reached 335,610 tons, a 4.88% (15.606 tonnes) increase year-on-year.
