On 10th September 2010, in the framework of the project, Vinh Hoan Corp stocked perch fry for the first season in the area of 170 hectares in Ben Tre province. The company is planning to expand to 300 hectares in 2012.
Perch fillets (a new product of the company) are mainly shipped to the U.S, EU and Australia with the average export price of US$8 per kilogram. Perch products bring 25 - 30 percent higher profit compared with pangasius and are more 10-15 percent profitable than pangasius certified by GlobalGAP. Besides, Vinh Hoan 1 feed plant succeeded in producing perch feed.
Last year, the company’s total export turnover reached a record high of US$132 million, 14.8 percent higher than planned.
In 2011, Vinh Hoan Corp plans to reach 700 MT of finished products and VND44 billion of revenue. Thank to the project of perch farming, the company’s fish production is expected to increase rapidly and reach 6,100 MT per year in 2013.
