Vinh Hoan Corp opened collagen pilot workshop
(VASEPNews) After success in research and production collagen extracted from pangasius skin, Vinh Hoan Corporation (Vinh Hoan Corp) opened, on 12 March 2012, its collagen pilot workshop in Binh Thanh Industrial Zone in Thanh Binh District, Dong Thap province.
The pilot workshop is equipped with advanced technologies to produce collagen from pangasius skin with the capacity of 7.2 MT of finished products per year. The total investment was at over VND9 billion.
The workshop takes part of large-scale and integrated production chain to use effectively a huge amount of by-products to gain more profit and minimize environment impacts from fish processing.
Collagen production is a profitable business as collagen extracted from fish skin can offer a value that is 10 time higher than pangasius export product.
On 26 November 2011, Vinh Hoan Corp started to construction a collagen production plant in Thanh Binh district (Dong Thap province). This was a careful intermediate step of the company to launch trial products in the market and improve technology for a large-scale factory. A factory of 1,000 tons of final product per year would be constructed middle of 2012.
