2010 also marked the efforts in many new projects of Vinh Hoan Corp. According to statistics of Vietnam Customs in 2010, Vinh Hoan Corp became the largest pangasius exporter of Vietnam.
In April 2010, Vinh Hoan Corp was the first seafood enterprise in Vietnam to be granted the certificate of seafood establishment under the control program of the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDC). With this certificate, Vinh Hoan Corp began promoting to export pangasius to the U.S.
By the end of September 2010, 5 farming areas of the company with the total area of 90 ha were certificated Global GAP.
At the same time, Vinh Hoan Corp conducted the first phase of seabass farming project in Ben Tre farming area. With the initial farming area of 170 ha, Vinh Hoan Corp planned to increase to 300 ha in 2012. Vinh Hoan’s seabass production is projected at 700 MT in 2011 and 6,100 MT in 2013.
Besides, the company tried to complete the procedures to establish the Collagen production company. The company expected mostly in this project to increase its profit by 25 percent. In QI/2011, Vinh Hoan Corp will build the factory with total investment capital of about US$12 million in which loans accounted for 50 percent and its designed capacity of 1,000 MT finished product per year.
