Viet Nam’s landings estimated at 447,000 MT in Jan-Feb
The country’s fishing output was estimated at 447,000 MT in the first two months of 2013, up 1 percent year on year, according to Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish).
Such performance was attributed to the favorable weather and the fact that many fishers went offshore fishing to stock up for the Tet holiday.
High marine catch was recorded in many provinces. The Phu Yen province had 100 fishing boats returning to shore with an average catch of 1-1.6 MT or even 3.5 MT per boat since the first day of Tet (February 10).
In Khanh Hoa, more than 30 tuna fishing vessels have returned to Hon Ro port with the average output of 3 MT per vessel.
