(vasep.com.vn) The National Agro Forestry Fisheries Quality Assurance (NAFIQAD) has recently sent an official letter to require the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine (under the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine) to take into consideration seafood imports from some Vietnam companies.
On January 9, 2014, NAFIQAD received the official letter No.15-9-2-3-8/124 sent by the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine (SVPS) to inform the result of its inspections of seafood export companies in Vietnam in December 2013. Accordingly, some companies were taken out of the list of seafood exporters to Ukraine due to detected problems of food safety in their processing chain.
NAFIQAD asked banned companies to take measures to solve problems. The agency also directed its regional centers of agro forestry fisheries quality assurance to suspend health certificate delivered to these companies' products exported to Ukraine.
NAFIQAD implemented inspections of documents and processing plants of involved companies. All of them have solved problems previously alerted by the Ukrainian inspection delegation, as well as meet requirements on food safety of both Ukraine and Vietnam.
