Thimaco reported that its seafood export value through November 2009 amounted to nearly US$50 million. The company expected to gain an export turnover of US$60 million in 2009, an increase of 20 percent over 2008.Currently, Thimaco is running four seafood processing plants with a total capacity of 500MT of raw fish per day. It is investing in building the 5th seafood processing plant to increase the total processing capacity to 700MT of raw fish per day. The firm has 19 fish farms that satisfy 70 percent of its raw fish consumption, and a hatchery providing 20 percent of its demand for fish fries. Thimaco exports products to worldwide markets, except the U.S. and Russia. Seafood exports to Mexico accounts for 30 percent and to the Middle East 20 percent of company’s total export value.
