(pangasius-vietnam.com) In February 23rd, 2012, Biofeed Co. was granted GlobalGAP certificate by the Bureau Veritas for its 10 hectare farm in Dong Hau hamlet, Ngai Tu commune, Tam Binh district, Vinh Long province.
This is the first pangasius farm in Vinh Long province certified Global Good Aquaculture Practice. GlobalGAP is considered as a passport for Biofeed to further penetrate into many markets in the world and enhance its competitiveness for pangasius products of the province.
In 2012, Vinh Long strives to increase the aquaculture area to over 3,200 hectares and total production to over 145,000 MT including 450 hectares for pangasius farming with the production of 129,000 MT.
Besides, the province speeds up to train, propagate, and guide seed producing facilities as well as fish farmers to produce fish in compliance with GlobalGAP. The province targets to have further one seed producing facility and three fish farms for export certified GlobalGAP.
In 2011, the number of fish farms in Vinh Long reduced to 232 ones from 303 ones of 2010 with the output of over 113,000 MT, fetching the export turnover of US$90 million.
