To fulfill this plan, the provinces have used 195,000 ha of water surface for fresh fish raising, 8,600ha of which would be used for farming pangasius. Due to reduction in antibiotics, raw material of fish shall meet the international requirements of food safety and hygiene and be sold at high price. Techniques of raising fresh water fish have become popular through training courses, workshops and maily media. In some provinces, farmers are privileged to lend money for improving raising ponds, buying breedings and food. Therefore, in the first harvest season, production of fresh water fish reached 910,000 tones, exceeding 50% of the plan, u 29% against the same period last year. Production of pangasius accounts for 757,000 tons with 350,000 tons served in processing.
