The new linkage is expected to make up of 18 members, including processing plants, pangasius suppliers, hatcheries, feed suppliers. At the meeting, parties approved the official rules, elected the Board of Management and Board of Supervisors, and signed joint agreements.
According to Mrs. Trinh, the export result depends much on raw pangasius supply and its quality. Therefore, apart from establishing and remaining the coherent pangasius linkage, TAFISHCO will further promote export of value-added products and expand other products like fish meal and fish oil. Currently, the company is interested in the U.S. market because this is a potential market for its pangasius products.
In the first five months of 2011, TAFISHCO maintained its export growth with the rise of 45 percent in both volume and value. The company had exported over 3,300 MT of finished products, gaining US$11.7 million from pangasius fillets and US$4 million from fish meal.
