Tafishco exports 5,000 MT of fish oil to Singapore
(vasep.com.vn) On 9th January 2015, the ship named MTNOLOWATI (Singapore) landed in Saigon Petro Port in Can Tho received 5,000 MT of biodiesel from Thuan An Production Trading and Service Co.Ltd (Tafishco).
According to Tafishco’s Chairman Nguyen Thai Son, this is the first export order in 2015 to a partner in Singapore. Estimated value of the shipment is over US$ 4 million. Biodiesel is made from the fat of pangasius. Each year, the company exports thousands of tons of the fish oil. This is a way to upgrade byproducts to high-value products.
Statistics show that each year, over 1,000,000 MT of pangasius is harvested in Mekong Delta. The fat of fish is estimated at 300,000 MT (accounts for over 30%). Biodiesel production is a method for waste reduction.
Biodiesel is more efficient while being environmental friendly with gas emissions. The price of biodiesel is 20% lower than diesel.
