South VinaThe U.S. and Mexico – two markets with stable growth rate

South Vina’s Deputy Director Mr. Duong Viet Thang said due to stagnated Pangasius consumption in EU, the company’s export value to this market is experiencing remarkable drop.

In addition, the company has to reduce its Pangasius exports to UAE and Egypt as importers and consumers in these markets remain skeptical of the smearing information on Pangasius published by mass media recently, plus difficulties concerning export prices.

In the first seven months of 2009, South Vina exported 6,133MT of Pangasius, valued US$14.5 million. In July alone, it shipped 1,440MT of frozen Pangasius, worth US$3.46 million to the U.S., Spain, Colombia, Canada, Mexico, Italy and Brazil. The U.S. was its largest market, followed by Spain and Mexico.
