Samefico: Pangasius exports to the U.S. show promising signs

Samefico reported its Pangasius exports in the first four months this year increased by 12 percent in volume and 23 percent in value compared with the same period last year. Exports to the U.S. alone represented more than 57 percent of the company’s export value in the period, followed by Asian countries 25.29 percent, EU 9.98 percent and Egypt 4.03 percent.

Hoa added Samefico’s products have been present in the Egyptian market since the beginning of 2010. Egypt has so far become one of Samefico’s importing markets with stable growth rate though its import volume is not so high.

According to the final result of the administrative review on anti-dumping rate on imported Viet Nam frozen Pangasius fillets in the period from 01 August 2007 to 32 July 2009 released by USDOC, Samefico was one among four exporters that did not sell Pangasius products less than market sales price in the U.S., and the company consequently enjoys zero percent rate when exporting to this market.
