With large large potentials and advantages to develop aquaculture, Quang Tri is implementing solutions such as planning of farming zone sand markets, organizing production of seed and aquafeed, transfer of technologies, environmental protection, etc. This is effort to answer the question of sustainable development of aquaculture, enriching farmers and local communities.
The total aquaculture area has increased to 2,300ha in 2006, of which black tiger shrimp farming 816ha, and crab farming 50ha. Of total aquaculture area, nearly 1,100ha was converted from low-yield rice growing area.
