(vasep.com.vn) According to Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish), the country's pangasius farming is being affected due to its low price in recent years.
Besides, in the ninth antidumping duty administrative review, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) decided to raise the tax rate imposed on frozen pangasius fillets imported from Vietnam to US$1.20 per kilogram instead of the previous rate of US$0.42 per kilogram. This added further burden to Vietnamese fish producers and exporters.
For the year to June, pangasius farming was affected by high feed cost, decreased price and lower import from major markets (the U.S., EU). The pangasius farming area in the Mekong Delta saw a decrease of 6.1 percent to 3,500 hectares.
