Kien Giang province harvested nearly 2,000 MT marine crabs

Thanks to favorable weather conditions, marine crab grew well and the province has just harvested 1,975 MT commercial crabs in which An Minh district of the province has the largest farming area of 28,543 hectares with harvesting output of 1,695 MT, followed by An Bien with 5,529 hectares and production of 280 MT.

Marine crab is farmed alternately with black tiger shrimp under model of rice-shrimp farming model. Investment costs for crab farming are not much due to low cost for feed. In addition, crabs raised under this model are less likely to catch diseases which contributes to increasing income for farmers.
