Khanh Hoa: Capture production of ocean tuna reached over 2,000 MT

For the year to date, tuna landings of Khanh Hoa province reached over 2 thousand MT, completing 50 percent of yearly plan and planned to catch 4 thousand MT in 2012.

The province has 7 enterprises that purchase raw tuna for processing and exporting with the yearly export turnover of US$100 million. However, due to insufficient raw material, tuna processors and exporters in Khanh Hoa have to import 60 – 80 percent of raw tuna from outside the country to stabilize their production, meet markets’ demand and remain traditional customers although tuna import price is 10 – 15 percent higher than the domestic price.
