(VASEPNews) Recently, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade has held a conference on “Agricultural export chance in Mekong Delta” in cooperation with Dong Thap Young Business Association and Hungca Company Limited (Hungca Co).
The conference was chaired by James C.Riedle, economist from John Hopkins University in the U.S. and attended by more than 70 representatives from local enterprises, relevant government agencies and media in Mekong Delta provinces.
The objective is to share information about Vietnam agricultural export in 2011 and the role of agricultural industry as well as its new challenges to forecast the agricultural export trend in Mekong Delta in the next future.
James C.Riedel identified the most challenge for Mekong Delta provinces in pangasius and rice export development was to improve production yield and income from agricultural activities.
To overcome challenges, Mekong Delta provinces need to project measures in agriculture to enhance the production’s effectiveness. It is also necessary to take measures as follows: attiring idle labours from rural areas to work in manufacturing sectors; focusing on export-oriented industrialisation and a level field for both state-owned and private companies; creating more transparent financial system and stabilizing macro economy.
Participants to the conference shared opinions and analysis on opportunities and challenges of regional export of agricultural and seafood products, as well as outline new orientations to reach international markets in the coming time.
Hungca Co will be present, from 24 to 26 April 2012, at the European Seafood Exposition (ESE) – the world’s biggest seafood show in Brussels – Belgium. This is the annual show of the company in seeking new customers and developing new markets in Europe. It is expected that Hungca presents to customers traditional pangasius fillets and value-added products at its booth in Hall 9 – 4359.
