HT Food expecting higher pangasius demand from Ukraine
(pangasius-vietnam.com) In the first seven months of 2013, Hiep Thanh Seafood Joint Stock Company (HT Food) exported 11,687 MT of pangasius products for total revenue of US$17.7 million. In which, exports to Russia and Ukraine made up about 30 – 40 percent. HT Food also sent fish products to other countries in the EU, Africa, America and Asia.
HT Food’s sales to Russia slowed down as some buyers are facing financial difficulties. In contrast, Ukraine’s pangasius consumption reported year-on-year growth of 20 percent over the recent months. Ukrainian importers generally strengthen fish purchase in every September and October; but this year, imports strongly increased since July and August. HT Food expected a higher demand from Ukrainian market in the coming months because its pangasius products are welcomed by local consumers thank to high quality, food safety and reasonable price.
Currently, HT Food operates a pangasius farming area of 110 hectares in Can Tho, a province in Mekong Delta, satisfying 80 – 100 percent of the company’s total production capacity.
