By 2020, Ha Noi’s aquaculture area will reach 24,000ha with an expected output of 5.5MT per ha, said the VND851,041 million Municipal Aquaculture Development Plan in 2009-2015 and to 2020, which was approved by the Ha Noi’s People Committee in the Decision No 3319/QĐ-UBND.
Accordingly, Ha Noi will complete its aquaculture development plan focusing on converting the low-efficient cultivated area to aquaculture area by the year 2010. The converted area will reach 6,117ha by 2020.
Farming high valued aquatic species such as eel and barramundi, and applying modern technologies in environment management, and using probiotics in concentrated aquaculture zones became key tasks in the plan.
Besides, Ha Noi will create favorable conditions to encourage scientists and individuals to invest in aquaculture practice, to tighten the link among aquaculture officials, scientists, businessmen, and farmers in order to boost aquaculture development at the locality. (VietFishNews)
