According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, by the end of September 2009, Faquimex shipped 9,199MT of seafood, valued more than US$19 million, of which 9,116 of frozen Pangasius worth US$18.540 million to Poland, Russia, Mexico, Netherlands, the U.S., Spain, Romania and Dominica.
In September alone, it is reported to ship 1,606MT of frozen Pangasius for a value of US$3.88 million, including 878MT worth US$1.83 million to Russia, its largest importer, followed by Colombia US$619,000, Poland US$487,000, and Germany US$239,000.
In 2009-2010, in a bid to hold the initiative in production and reduce storage costs, the company is constructing a 7,00MT-coldstorage located in Giao Long Industrial Zone, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre province. At the moment, the first phase of a 2,000MT coldstorage with an investment of VND26.7 billion is underway, and scheduled to be in operation in the fourth quarter of 2009.
