Besides pangasius, some districts of Dong Thap such as Tam Nong, Cao Lanh, Lap Vo cultured scampi with 1,198 ha, harvested 284.4 MT. Scampi price ranges from 90,000 to 170,000 VND depending on size.
In October 2010, the province’s export continued to grow positively, primarily due to favorable seafood export. Seafood export value is estimated at US$48,586 million, up 8.6% from the period month and up 52% over the same period last year. Especially, shrimp chips surged in volume and value compared to the period month.
In the first 10 years of 2010, seafood turnover has reached US$468 million, nearly up 24% against the same period of 2009, reached 105.15% of year’s plan. Processed seafood increased in volume and value while rice is opposite.
