(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Recently, De Heus Co., Ltd (belonging to De Heus Group of the Netherlands) has proposed to invest in an aquaculture value chain development project in Dong Thap province.
Dong Thap is a province with a large area of pangasius farming and exporting in the Mekong Delta. However, in the value chain of the pangasius industry, the hatchery production stage still has many bottlenecks, causing the industry value chain to not fully promote its advantages.
Therefore, De Heus Co., Ltd wishes to implement the Aquaculture Value Chain Development Project in Binh Thanh Commune, Cao Lanh District. The project is expected to have a total area of about 26.8 hectares.
This company hopes that through the project, it will help farmers increase profits more, as well as the pangasius industry can promote its inherent potentials and advantages.
At the meeting, De Heus Co., Ltd. also asked the agricultural sector of Dong Thap province to support and encourage farmers in the area near the project to implement agricultural production according to biological processes. The purpose is to limit harmful chemicals released into the environment, affecting water sources in general as well as the water environment in aquaculture in particular.
Pangasius is one of Dong Thap's agricultural restructuring industries, with a farming area of about 2,100 hectares in 2021, pangasius output of over 486 thousand tons, seafood export turnover reaching $763.8 million and ranking 4th in the country. Therefore, Dong Thap needs to develop the aquaculture value chain, especially the breeding stage.
