Dong Thap leading in pangasius production

(vasep.com.vn) Through May 2014, superficies for pangasius farming in the Mekong Delta estimated to hit 5,500 hectares with the output of 335 thousand MT. Pangasius production in the period in some regional provinces reported year-on-year reduction. However, pangasius output and superficies for fish production in two provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre saw the increase.

In May 2014, black tiger shrimp production in almost provinces in the Mekong Delta reported year-on-year growth despite decline in some main farming areas.

In the first 5 months of 2014, Vietnam’s aquaculture production was estimated to reach 310 thousand MT, up 4.3 percent year on year, driving the cumulative aquaculture production in the first 5 months of the year up to 999 thousand MT, up 1.5 percent year on year.
