Cho Moi Fishery Cooperative: 60-percent reduction in pangasius output in 2014
(pangasius-vietnam.com) At present, pangasius production is facing with difficulties because of financial troubles. Pangasius feed spending is so high while there was no rise in raw fish price. The first-grade pangasius stood at VND23,000 per kilogram. In this context, the Cho Moi Fishery Cooperative predicts a 60-percent lower production in 2014.
The Cooperative has farmed pangasius on the area of 13 hectares for total production of 5,000 MT of raw fish through October 2013.
In the coming months of the year, the Cooperative continued to breed small fishes to reach the commercial size in order to harvest them in 2014. Pangasius is growing slowly due to cold weather.
The harvested fish was sold to processors in An Giang and Dong Thap provinces.
