(vasep.com.vn) Ca Mau Department of Science and Technology applied successfully the project of high productivity and quality of shrimp products by 2020. After two-year implementation of the project, the productivity of industrial shrimp farming reached 12-18 MT per hectare.
Under the project, high-quality shrimp seed was produced with productivity increased by 30 percent while commercial shrimp production was also raised by 50 percent per hectare.
This is the model of improving participation of state agencies, scientists and enterprises in shrimp farming in the province. Besides following standards of VietGAP, local shrimp farmers in the project operate under new process in sustainable manner, meeting demand from strict markets.
The Department of Science and Technology will cooperate with local enterprises in supplying feed, seed, bioproducts and guiding farming techniques to more and more farmers in the province. Accordingly, local farmers have conditions to expand the effective model of shrimp farming, contributing to fulfill the target of developing industrial shrimp farming in the province.
