Bar coding for farmed seafood

NAFIQAD reported it is implementing

According to Mr. Nguyen Nhu Tiep, NAFIQAD’s Deputy Director in charge, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) with Denmark’s sponsor is implementing a trial programme on bar coding about 50,000 aquaculturists in An Giang and Ben Tre provinces. Traceability is applied for the whole chain.

Fish fries will have a traceable label provided by suppliers. During the harvest time, product will bear traceable label by farmers before selling to buyers. This label is considered as important information printed in the bill of lading or receipt which facilitates traceability, especially in case of shipment is found not meeting requirement for export processing.
