So far, the province numbers more than 20 processing plants for 350,000 MT of frozen fish products per year, contributing 30 – 35 percent to Vietnamese pangasius exports.
At the meeting with An Giang officials and local companies from agricultural sector, Nguyen Van Binh, the State Bank of Vietnam's Governor said that as the 2014 inflation rate is predicted to be around 6 percent, local banks would keep loans' interest rate at the current level or the rate could be reduced more 1 – 2 percent.
An Giang officials proposed the SBV's Governor to issue suitable policies to support pangasius companies in setting up zones for raw fish production to export, as well as implementing a new production model based on links among pangasius, rice, corps producers.
