An Giang may face lack of pangasius supplies for processing
(pangasius-vietnam.com) An Giang province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development predicted that the province would see lack of raw pangasius for processing during the late months of 2013 due to tightened water surface used in fish farming and a lower production of pangasius fingerlings.
Currently the majority of water surface used for pangasius production in the province is owned by local fish processors. Fish farms run by small-scale farmers have been tightening.
In the first half of 2013, exporters in An Giang province shipped 86,800 MT of pangasius products abroad to generate US$218 million, up 33 percent in volume and 13 percent in value over the same period of 2012.
