(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, An Giang Fisheries Import and Export Joint Stock Company (Agifish) will invest more in fish farming with an aim to ensure raw material for processing. These farms are expected to supply 30,000 MT of raw fish and help the company reach US$100 million of export revenue.
The project is considered as the 2012’s main objective set by its annual shareholders’ meeting in purpose to create large-scale pangasius farming area, providing high quality, and traceable fish products which can satisfy international standards.
To develop fish farming area, Agifish rented mainly large-scale fish farms with total water surface area of 120 hectares in An Giang, Dong Thap provinces and Can Tho city. These fish farms are in good infrastructure in compliance with food safety requirements. The measure helps Agifish save lots of money and time from buying land and built new farm for fish rearing; therefore, it can start stocking fish to meet harvest season in the next several months.
Thank to good weather, in April 2012, Agifish stocked 20 million of fingerlings. In the coming months, it continues to stock more fish along with harvest schedule. As the result, the firm will assure raw material for processing and avoid being affected by unstable fish supply.
In 2012 – 2013 period, Agifish sets to meet 80 percent of its raw material needs, equal to 60,000 MT of high quality pangasius satisfying ASC and GlobalGAP standards to supply to the U.S., the EU and Australia…
