Agifish said that the global economic downturn has had adverse impacts on the company’s production and business, especially in the first six months of the year. However, the situation has improved since September 2009.In October, Agifish shipped 3,342MT of seafood, worth US$7.725 million, the highest from the beginning of the year up to now. The export market structure is relatively harmonious, including Australia 21.25 percent, Western Europe 19.93 percent, Middle East 16.10 percent, the U.S. 14.99 percent, Eastern Europe 12.84 percent, Asia 11.58 percent, and South America 3.3 percent.
According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, in the recent ten months, Agifish exported 19,184MT of seafood, valued at US$46 million, including 18,909MT of Pangasius, worth US$45.047 million, ranking fifth in the list of Viet Nam’s leading Pangasius exporters. Besides, Agifish is pushing up sales of value-added products in domestic market, with nearly 2,000MT netted around VND67 billion. Agifish already signed several long-term contracts to export Pangasius fillets and value-added products to EU and Australia by the first quarter of 2010.Along with steping up production of existing plants AGF7, AGF9, AGF360, Agifish has put into operation two freezers in AGF8 to meet customers’ orders in the last months of the year.
