(VASEPNews) Vietnam has currently had 44 pangasius farms granted the ASC certificate. These are farms owned by 37 Vietnamese pangasius processing and export companies.
The results are updated in the website of Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC).
An Giang Fisheries Import and Export Joint Stock Company (Agifish) is the first producer having three ASC-certified farms. Some other companies, including Hung Vuong Corp, Vinh Hoan Corp and Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company, own two sustainably certified farms.
Recently, Co Chien Seafood Joint Stock Company, Nam Vang Trading and Production Company Limited and Golden Quality Seafood Corporation received the ASC certificate for their fish farms in Vinh Long province. These farms total an area of 36.7 hectares.
Most of 44 ASC-certified pangasius farms are located in the provinces of Dong Thap, Tien Giang, An Giang and Can Tho – hubs of pangasius production.
The ASC certification helps Vietnamese pangasius improve its credibility in the global market, raising competitiveness and profit for fish companies.
