(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, in Jan-Nov 2016, Vietnam’s bivalve mollusk exports were worth by US$75.1 million, up 0.5% from the same period last year. The figure in Nov 2016 amounted to US$7.5 million, up 1.9% year on year.
The EU stayed as the largest importer of Vietnam’s bivalve mollusks with the share of 64.2%. In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam’s bivalve mollusk exports to the EU valued at US$48.2 million, up 0.6% from the same period last year. Portugal claimed as the biggest buyer of Vietnam’s bivalve mollusks in the bloc with the value of US$14.8 million, up 3.5% year on year, followed by Spain. In the first 11 months of this year, Spain’s imports of bivalve mollusks from Viet Nam touched US$14.3 million, up 25.5% over the same period last year.
The US ranked the 2nd out of top Vietnam’s bivalve mollusk importers with the proportion of nearly 12%. In Nov 2016, shipments to the US reached US$1.1 million, up 40.6% over the year before. The figure in Jan-Nov 2016 estimated at US$8.8 million, up nearly 35% over the same period in 2015.
In Nov 2016, out of top 9 main importing markets, sales to South Korea and Hong Kong - China fell by 75.5% and 13.5%, respectively. In the first 11 months of the year, exports to Hong Kong – China, South Korea, Japan and Asean droped by 48%, 17%, 14% and 10%, respectively.
