Oyster exports continue to grow

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After a breakthrough growth in 2023, Vietnam's oyster exports continued to increase in the first five months of 2024. In May 2024, the export value of this product group increased by 52%. Cumulatively, in the first five months of 2024, Vietnam's oyster export value reached nearly 7 million USD, up 31% compared to the same period in 2023.

Oyster exports continue to grow

Vietnam primarily exports chilled fresh oysters. Vietnamese oysters have been exported to over 10 countries worldwide, mainly in the Asian region.

Taiwan is the key market for Vietnamese oysters, accounting for 82% of exports in the first five months of this year. In addition to Taiwan, Vietnam is significantly increasing its oyster exports to neighboring Laos. In the first five months of this year, exports to Laos tripled compared to the same period in 2023, reaching over 713 thousand USD.

Besides oysters, exports of other mollusks such as scallops and snails from Vietnam have also seen significant growth in some markets. The export value of these two product groups in the first five months of this year has increased by 42% and 18%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
