(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam cephalopod exports to the Netherlands in Jan 2017 reached US$742 thousand, up 337% year on year. The market ranked the second behind Italy (in the EU bloc) in importing cephalopod from Vietnam. The market reported the highest growth in purchasing cephalopod from Vietnam among markets in the EU bloc.
In 2016, the Netherlands tend to import more cephalopod than that in 2015. China was the largest supplier of cephalopod to the Netherlands. It was followed by India and the U.S. These three suppliers raised supplying cephalopod to the Netherlands in 2016.
The average import price of cephalopod into the Netherlands in 2016 tend to be higher than that of 2015. The price ranged from US$3.7 – 4/MT. The average export price of Vietnamese cephalopod to the Netherlands in 2016 was US$3.73 – 4.06/MT. The price of Vietnam was nearly equal to those of 3 leading cephalopod suppliers to the Netherlands (China, India and the US).
The Netherlands imported mainly frozen squid (HS 030749), followed by frozen cephalopod (HS 030759).
Import of processed squid into the Netherlands in 2016 tend to reduce. Spain was the largest supplier of processed squid to the Netherlands, the next was Peru and Vietnam. Imports from Peru fell, imports from Spain and Vietnam rose. Vietnam made up 18% fo total import value of prcessed squid into the Netherlands while Spain with 30% and Peru with 25%.
In terms of processed octopus, Vietnam was the second largest supplier to the Netherlands with the proportion of 27% of total cephalopod import value into the market.
