Consequently in September 2009 Vinh Hoan-run Pangasius farming regions have been certified according to AquaGAP by IMO.
These include 17 farming ponds with an output of 10,000MT per year in Tan Hoa; 8 farming ponds with an output of 4,500MT a year in Tan Thanh; 13 ponds with 8,000MT a year in Con Ngam-My Xuong; and 11 ponds with a production of 6,000MT a year in Tan Thuan Tay.
So far, Vinh Hoan Corp has been developing and completing the Green Farm programme, which complies with AquaGAP. In 2009, Vinh Hoan Corp strives to ensure that its certified farming regions provide 40 percent of its demand for raw fish, and this figure will increase to 70 percent in the following years.
Following AquaGAP, Vinh Hoan Corp plans to get other international certificates on safe aquaculture, such as GlobalGAP and organic farming.The AquaGAP label will confirm quality of Pangasius produced by Vinh Hoan Corp in the globe market, making the company’s Pangasius products a reliable choice of consumers.

The result shows that the sector is experiencing a fairly positive recovery, especially in its two key product groups: crabs and swimming crabs. However, behind the growth figures are several concerns: export markets remain highly concentrated, raw material supply is unstable, and trade barriers from the US and EU are becoming increasingly stringent.

In Hung My commune alone, there are about 260 super-intensive shrimp farming households covering more than 265 hectares, playing a key role in local economic development.
