In the first 6 months of 2017, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the U.S reached US$176.4 million, down 5.7% over the same period last year. However, with the export growth of 8.4% in QII/2017. The U.S continued to be the leading buyer of Vietnam pangasius.
By the end of 2017, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the U.S forecasted to slow down due to the early transfer of FDA to FSIS.
In QII/2017, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to China continued to go up 40.1% over the same period last year. In the first half of 2017, the export value of pangasius to China amounted to US$171.4 million USD, up 46.5% over the same period last year. In the coming time, Vietnam’s pangasius shipments to China expected to rise by 25 - 50% year on year.
Declines in the U.S and the EU in the first half of this year led exporters to boost exports to other potential markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, the export value to these markets recorded the remarkable growth from the same period last year. Of that, sales to Brazil increased by 46.3%; those to Mexico climbed up 31.3%; those to Colombia were up 15.8% and those to Saudi Arabia inched up 12.8% year on year. In the second half of 2017, exports to these markets expected to continue the good growth.
According to Vietnam Customs, the export of value-added pangasius in the first eight months of 2024 has been evaluated as quite positive, with continuous growth in many major markets such as the United States, CPTPP, and the Netherlands...
