Pangasius exports to the Netherlands decreased in the Q1 and Q3/2015. In contrast, in Q2/2015, pangasius exports from Vietnam to the Netherlands grew up to 15% over the same period last year.
Through the first half of September 2015, pangasius exports to the Netherlands reached 38.66 million, down slightly from last year's result. It is still the largest export market for value added products.
Data from International Trade Centre (ITC), in H1/2015, Netherlands imports of whitefish fell from the same period last year. Frozen cod and tilapia dropped by respectively 17.8% and 36.3%, respectively.
Currently, Vietnam is the largest source of pangasius for the Netherlands, with 83-84% of total imports. The Netherlands also imports pangasius from Indonesia and several countries in EU, such as Belgium, Poland and Germany.
Although export value decreased from the same period last year, but it is forecast to be higher in the coming period, especially for value added products.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On the evening of December 23, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) held a ceremony to celebrate the seafood export milestone of 10 billion USD, with hopes for continued growth in 2025. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, and representatives from various ministries, as well as domestic and international partners.

Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Nguyen Hoai Nam said that in the past 5-6 years, Vietnam's seafood export value has only hovered around 8-10 billion USD/year. To reach the value of 16 billion USD by 2030, Mr. Nam proposed establishing corporations/enterprises to exploit the sea.

These natural resources provide ideal conditions for the growth of aquaculture, making the fisheries sector a cornerstone of Soc Trang’s economic strategy.
