QVD donates $200,000 worth of pangasius to food banks

Beneficiaries include Los Angeles-based FOOD Share, Second Harvest in Florida, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, and the Houston Food Bank. 

“At QVD, we are committed to social responsibility,” said CEO Chris December. “In addition to helping employ thousands of people in Vietnam, we are committed to a vision of growing seafood to feed the world. In some cases, this means making a donation to a food bank so that people who are going through hard times can enjoy our wonderful product.” December noted the QVD team has embraced the motto of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, “Feeding the World Through Responsible Aquaculture.” 

According to Houston Food Bank’s Director of Food Resources, John Kreger, QVD’s gift is an “extraordinary donation in a time of great need. Texas has the second highest rate of food insecurity in the nation, according to the USDA. 

“People aren’t certain they’ll have access to enough to eat from day to day,” Kreger said. “As jobs are lost during the recession, individuals and families who have never before needed help are turning to hunger relief agencies for sustenance. Every donation makes an impact. We are grateful for the support from organizations like QVD Seafood to fill our shelves and freezers,” Kreger added.

Cumulative pangasius export turnover in the first four months of 2026 reached USD 720 million, up 17% year-on-year, reflecting the positive growth momentum of this key export product.

Ca Mau shifts strongly toward high-tech shrimp farming
