GENERAL INFORMATION

In Vietnam, the fishery sector plays an important role in the national economy, accounting for about 4-5 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and about 9-10% of national export revenue.

More than 4 millions of people working in the fishery and the growth in production have attributed to the fish exports. Thanks to strongly increase in many years, Vietnam ranks among the top ten seafood suppliers and its seafood products are exported to 170 markets in the world.

Shrimp, pangasius, tuna, squid and octopus are main seafood products exported by the country. In which, shrimp exports create about US$ 3.5 – 4 billion, make up 46-50% of the total seafood sales of Vietnam. Earnings from pangasius reached at US$ 1.7 – 1.8 billion (25% of the total) and exports from Tuna and Cephalopods are US$ 450 – 550 million for each.

Exports to the U.S, Japan, EU, China and South Korea make up 75% of Vietnam’s seafood sales to the wolrd.

Vietnam seafood penetrating Middle East and African markets

(vasep.com.vn) Whilst traditional markets such as Europe and South America are shrinking, the Middle East and Africa are potential markets for Vietnamese seafood exporters.

Realizing market movements, Hung Ca Co., Ltd continues to seek and expand markets in the Middle East and Africa when exports to traditional markets such as Europe and South America are on decreasing trend.

At Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2014), Hung Ca Co., Ltd welcomed  customers and partners from Europe and the Middle East and many domestic visitors. Main and traditional products introduced to partners and customers were pangasius fillet, whole fish, pangasius steak and so on.

At its booth, Hung Ca Company held a tribute dinner on 6th August for guests. This is an opportunity for leaders of the company to say express their gratitude towards customers for their trust. Partners were provided with information on prices of raw materials, finished products and the exports in the future.

Hung Ca Co. Ltd was established in 2006 in Binh Thanh Industrial Zone in Dong Thap province. For over 8 years of development, Hung Ca products present throughout the world, in Europe, America, Russia, China and the Middle East. The company has owned a farming area of more than 700 hectares in Dong Thap as well as two fish processing plants called Hung Ca and Van Y with processing 370 tons of raw material per day. Hung Ca Co. Ltd owns closed process chain from farming – processing and exporting. Hung Ca farms use clean materials and products meet standards of international quality such as ASC, Global GAP, ISO 22000, BRC, HALAL, IFS.

Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2014) was organized by Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City on 6-8 August 2014, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, gathering 200 domestic and foreign enterprises, attracting many domestic and international visitors.
