(seafood.vasep.com.vn) 2022 is an impressive year for Vietnam's seafood industry. Although it is not yet the end of the year, Vietnam's seafood exports have reached the record of 10 billion USD, an increase of nearly 34% compared to 2021, completing early on the set target for 2022. To mark this significant milestone, on December 10, 2022, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) held a Celebration seafood exports reached 10 billion USD.
Attending the ceremony, on the side of leaders of state agencies were Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Le Van Thanh - Chief of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Office, Mr. Tran Dinh Luan - Deputy General Director of the D-Fish, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Tiep - Director of NAFIQAD Department, Mr. Nguyen Van Long - Director of Department of animal health, Mr. Phan Van Chinh - Director of Agency of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Mr. Le Hoang Tai - Deputy Director of Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Ms. Bui Hoang Yen - In charge of the Southern Trade Promotion Department. On the side of VASEP, there were Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh - Former Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Honorary President of VASEP, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Sac - Vice President of VASEP Chairman of the Seafood Committee, Mr. Do Ngoc Tai - Vice President Chairman of VASEP, Chairman of the Committee of Shrimp, Mr. Ngo Minh Hien - Head of the Association's Inspection Committee, Mr. Luu Hoang Ly - Director of Bac Lieu Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms. Vo Thi Thanh Van - Deputy Director of An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders of departments, provincial Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, other associations, partners - customers, media agencies and all member enterprises attended the ceremony.

In 2021, the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic caused the Vietnamese government to introduce social distancing, isolation, movement restrictions, and other preventing and limiting Covid-19 measures. Seafood enterprises have faced difficulties and challenges from on-site production, limitations in purchasing raw materials, difficulties in transporting goods, leading to the risk of supply chain breakage. However, with the Government's drastic policies in quickly applying vaccines and being flexible in disease control, businesses have had conditions to promptly restore production and export in the last months of the year. With that growth momentum, in the first quarters of 2022, Vietnam's seafood exports continue to recover and accelerate, contributing to bringing seafood exports to 10 billion USD.

At the 10 billion USD seafood export celebration ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh - Former Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Honorary President of VASEP gave a speech to review the 22-year journey of Vietnam's seafood export conquering the world market, from 1 billion USD in 2000 to over 10 billion USD in 2022.
Besides the efforts of the business community, the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and other ministries and agencies in the field also plays an important role to achieve the 10 billion USD mark. They have accompanied and supported enterprises to remove difficulties and provide timely solutions. On the occasion of the 10 billion USD seafood export celebration, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien - representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and also who was directly involved in directing and actively supporting the seafood industry, had a short speech to share with seafood enterprises regarding the achievements as well as set out the future goals.

Vietnam's seafood exports reached 10 billion USD, contributing to make Vietnam the third largest seafood exporter in the world. These achievements are the great merits of all stakeholders in the seafood supply chain, of which the greatest merit is from seafood processing and exporting enterprises. According to Customs data, all enterprises in the top 100 seafood exporting enterprises have sales of 20 million USD or more, contributing more than 75% of the total export turnover of the whole industry with double digit growth in export items. In the joyful atmosphere of the ceremony, VASEP honored individuals and units with outstanding achievements that greatly contributed to the figure of 10 billion USD.

Accordingly, VASEP has announced the top 30 excellent exporting enterprises in 2022, which have contributed greatly to the turnover of 10 billion USD. The list includes the top 10 shrimp enterprises, the top 10 freshwater fish enterprises and the top 10 seafood enterprises. Mr. Phung Duc Tien -Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh - Former Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Honorary President of the Association presented flowers and medals to excellent export enterprises.
VASEP voted and awarded the contribution to Mr. Ngo Van Ich - Chairman of VASEP
This is the first time VASEP has unanimously voted and awarded Mr. Ngo Van Ich for his dedication to the Association's activities. Mr. Ngo Van Ich was the Chairman of VASEP for 2 terms 5 and 6. As the Chairman of VASEP Mr. Ich promptly gave the right directions according to the policy of the Executive Board of the Association, orienting the activities of the Association to catch up with the trend, actively and effectively supporting member enterprises. In addition, Mr. Ngo Van Ich is the owner of Nha Trang Seafoods - F17 Joint Stock Company in Khanh Hoa and NTSF JSC in Can Tho, both companies are in the top 10 shrimp exporters and the top 10 freshwater fish exporting enterprises.
