Vietnam's cephalopod exports in the first 5 months of 2023 reached more than 240 million USD, down 13% over the same period last year. In May 2023 alone, the export of this product reached 52 million USD, down 18% over the same period. Although negative growth is inevitable in the general decline of seafood exports, compared to other products, the export value of squid and octopus recorded a slighter decrease. Export of cephalopods to the main consuming markets simultaneously decreased by 2 digits except Japan. Exports to smaller markets such as Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, and the Philippines have more positive signals with an increase of 15-75%.
