Navico signs fisheries partnership with Brazil, boosting Vietnam-Brazil trade

At the Vietnam-Brazil Business Forum held on July 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the business communities of both countries to realize new economic cooperation directions, focusing on three breakthrough areas: agriculture; science, technology, digital transformation and telecommunications; mineral exploration and processing. He emphasized the spirit of "harmonized benefits, shared risks", urging businesses from both sides to translate high-level agreements into concrete actions while promoting market access for each country’s key agricultural products.

Approximately 50 Vietnamese and 30 Brazilian enterprises, along with representatives from government ministries and agencies of both countries, attended the Vietnam–Brazil Business Forum held on July 5 in Rio de Janeiro. Major corporations such as Viettel, PVN, Lộc Trời, and leading Brazilian firms shared their cooperative strategies in mutually complementary sectors. Brazil reaffirmed its desire to fostering the “best possible” partnership with Vietnam, expressing readiness to import more Vietnamese seafood, rice and agricultural products. On this occasion, both sides marked the exchange of the first shipments, including Brazilian beef exported to Vietnam and Vietnamese pangasius, basa and tilapia to Brazil.

A key highlight of the forum was the signing of a fisheries cooperation agreement between Nam Viet Corporation (Navico) and Brazil’s AV09 Comercio Exporter Ltda, witnessed by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and other delegates. This agreement represents one of the first tangible outcomes supporting the goal of boosting bilateral trade turnover to 15 billion USD by 2030. The collaboration also aligns with the strategy to encourage bilateral investments in local production and deep processing, leveraging each side’s strengths to serve domestic and export markets.

Additionally, Vietnam and Brazil agreed to accelerate negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the MERCOSUR bloc, improve the legal framework for investment, facilitate visa processes, and expand flight routes to enhance business and economic connectivity in the near future.
