Of which, the production value of pangasius reached 3,586 billion VND, shrimp reached 97.2 billion VND, and other seafood reached more than 1,410 billion VND.
The aquaculture area is estimated at 4,540 hectares, down 6.47% over the same period, equal to 93.03% of the 6-month plan. Total harvested seafood output is estimated at 285,196 tons, up 6.64% over the same period, equal to 104.51% of the 6-month plan.
According Sub-Department of Industry, Health, and Fisheries, implement the project to restructure the province's pangasius industry for the period 2021–2023 and plan by 2025 with many key solutions. In particular, the province focus on diversification of value-added products that meet quality and food safety conditions to serve the domestic and export markets, contributing to improving production efficiency. Production value in the period 2021–2023 continuously increased, with 2023 reaching more than 8,550 billion VND, reaching 94.6% of the planned target (estimated to reach more than 9,046 billion VND by 2025). The production value of the pangasius industry in 2023 accounted for 17.4% of the value structure of the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors, exceeding the yearly target of about 17.2%.
The whole province currently has 375 pangasius farming facilities issued with identification codes with an area of 1,626 hectares of water surface. Of these, there are 83 establishments granted certificates of food safety eligibility with an area of about 648 hectares; 38 facilities applied and certified standards: VietGAP, GlobalGAP, ASC, and BAP, with an area of 242 hectares.
The whole province currently has 56 seed facilities certified to meet production conditions. Of these, there are 33 pangasius seed production facilities and 23 pangasius hatchery facilities. Regarding environmental monitoring, the province currently has more than 628 hectares of farming area with wastewater and sludge treatment systems according to regulations, reaching 64.3% of the target. At the same time, about 90% of pangasius farming establishments supply raw materials for export processing and domestic market consumption. The pangasius industry accounts for 10% of the domestic consumption market share of total output.
In the future, sectors and levels in the province will continue to implement the contents of the plan to restructure the pangasius industry. In particular, propose solutions to update and monitor the production and consumption of seafood to serve the direction and administration, as well as promptly support and remove difficulties and obstacles in the production process. output, ensuring the completion of planned targets. At the same time, strengthen state management of fisheries to ensure the quality of input factors in the production process as well as the output quality of products; support product consumption connections; and improve product competitiveness.
