Hanoi (VNA) – Agro-forestry-aquatic product exports raked in 34.27 billion USD in the first seven months of 2024, up 18.8% from the same period last year, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 9.42 billion USD in the agro-forestry-fishery sector during the period, surging 60% year-on-year, statistics show.

In July alone, the export value of these products stood at 5.11 billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 18.2%.

Between January and July, agricultural products brought home 18.21 billion USD, forestry products 9.41 billion USD, aquatic products 5.29 billion USD, and livestock products 288 million USD, up 23.4%, 21.1%, 7.3%, and 4.8%, respectively.

Some commodities posting high export values include timber and wood products with 8.78 billion USD (up 21.9% year-on-year), coffee 3.54 billion USD (30.9%), rice 3.27 billion USD (25.1%), cashew nuts 2.37 billion USD (22.1%), fruits and vegetables 3.83 billion USD (24.3%), shrimp 2 billion USD (7.5%), and tra fish 1.02 billion USD (7.1%).

In particular, the average export prices of many commodities like rice, coffee, rubber, pepper, and tea, kept rising in the reviewed period.

The US, China, and Japan remained the largest importers of Vietnamese agro-forestry-aquatic products, with the export value to the US increasing by 21.6% year-on-year, China by 11.3%, and Japan by 4%./
