Continuously from the beginning of the year, Vietnam's tuna export value has grown continuously.
Currently, there are 19 Vietnamese enterprises participating in exporting tuna to this market, the largest of which are Ha Long - Da Nang Canned One Member Company Limited, Hai Long Nha Trang Seafood Company Limited and Ba Hai Joint Stock Company.
Exports of tuna products to the Australian market during this period increased sharply over the same period. The main tuna products exported to the Australian market include canned or bagged tuna in oil, frozen tuna meat/fillets, frozen tuna cuts, etc.
According to the latest statistics of the World Trade Center (ITC), in the first 9 months of 2021, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines are the top 4 tuna suppliers for the Australian market. Vietnam is currently the third largest supplier, accounting for 1.6% of the total value of Australia's tuna imports. Meanwhile, Thailand and Indonesia with a much more overwhelming share, 73% and 23% respectively, are holding the first and second positions.
According to ITC, while Australia's tuna imports from Vietnam increased by 209%, imports from Thailand decreased by 15% and Indonesia increased by 28%.
Currently, compared to Thailand and Indonesia, the price of Vietnamese tuna products is lower, which shows that businesses are trying to expand their market share in this market.
