Vietnam tuna exports to US rose by 16%
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the statistics Vietnam customs, Vietnam's tuna exports to the U.S fell slightly in April 2017, but then recovered. The figure in the first 6 months of 2017 amounted to US$108 million, up 16% year on year.
Vietnam’s exports of frozen tuna loins/fillets remained the large share of 60% of Vietnam's tuna exports to the market. In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s exports of processed/canned tuna to the U.S continued to increase sharply. According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s shipments of processed/canned tuna to the U.S reached US$40 million, up 41% over the same period last year.
However, Vietnam’s canned tuna had to compete strongly the same item from China, Ecuador, the Philippines and Indonesia due to the higher average tariff of 10.1% while that for these countries was 9.2%.
In the coming time, Vietnam’s tuna exports to the U.S forecasted to remain the positive results with a rise in orders.
